A Tour of the Siemens Exhibit at MEDICA 2008
Siemens is presenting its complete healthcare portfolio at MEDICA 2008: Fully integrated medical technology, from a single system to the corporate level. Siemens Healthcare has set its sights on being the best integrated healthcare company in the world. By combining diagnostics and therapy, infrastructure concepts, information technology and service concepts, Siemens can offer solutions that encompass the entire healthcare process. Furthermore, these solutions are scalable, from the laboratory up to business management and control. And in all areas the focus at Siemens is on seamless integration.

Fluoroscopy and Angiography
Visitors interested in fluoroscopy and angiography can test two systems in simulation: Axiom Luminos dRF, a fluoroscopy system that combines fluoroscopy and radiography, thus ensuring high system utilization, and Axiom Artis, a system family which utilizes flat detector technology to examine blood vessels and the heart. The user controls the systems displayed on a monitor with the original operator consoles. All movements initiated at the consoles, including the associated noises, are displayed in real time on the monitor.

GE Healthcare announces new Innova CT application

GE Healthcare introduced today new breakthrough Innova Computed Tomography (CT) technology for its Innova digital fluoroscopic imaging systems at the Arab Health 2006 Exhibition and Congress. This major enhancement to GE's Innova® 4100 and Innova 3100 cardiovascular interventional imaging systems could help change the direction of medical imaging for surgical patients, according to Laura King, Vice President and General Manager of the Global Interventional, Cardiology and Surgery business at GE Healthcare.

'GE has taken 3-D medical imaging to the next level by bringing 3-D interventional images normally acquired during CT scans into the X-ray interventional lab,' said King. 'The new Innova CT technology will make 3-D anatomical imaging more available for patient use during an image guided interventional procedure.'

Fluoroscopy

Fluoroscopy is the method that provides real-time X ray imaging that is especially useful for guiding a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures. The ability of fluoroscopy to display motion is provided by a continuous series of images produced at a maximum rate of 25-30 complete images per second. This is similar to the way conventional television or video transmits images.

While the X ray exposure needed to produce one fluoroscopic image is low (compared to radiography), high exposures to patients can result from the large series of images that are encountered in fluoroscopic procedures. Therefore, the total fluoroscopic time is one of the major factors that determines the exposure to the patient from fluoroscopy.

Improve Productivity Through Procedure Efficiency

Higher Productivity With Parallel Processing
Simultaneously processing and transferring image data during acquisition yields quick, efficient exams. For example, during fluoroscopy and fluorography, operators can prepare for the next scheduled patient, process and save images from a previous (or current) study, and transfer or archive images to an associated network.
Intuitive Operation
All Infinix-i systems utilize intuitive tableside controls, with an ergonomic Hyperhandle, to provide all exam functions at the touch of a button. Once you've learned the system, you can intuitively manipulate the system by touch.
